It took me a really long time to figure out my style, what I really like and where I want my photography to take me.
And today, I feel that it is time for me to declare my beliefs and my vision to the world.
So the following is my art manifesto:
Dreams are the door to creativity. In dreams the greatest ideas are born, and from ideas greater achievements emerge.
I’m a big dreamer, I never stop dreaming, day and night.
Second, have goals;
Have goals for the year, goals for the month, goals for the week, goals for the day, goals for the hour, goals for the minute! Change your goals and prioritize them, but always have a goal, a purpose.. A goal is what fuels your will to achieve something.
I can’t move on without a goal. Goals give my life a meaning, a reason…
Third, thrive for excellence;
Excellence is the ultimate goal, never settle for less than excellent, keep trying no matter what or how long it takes.
I’m a perfection freak, it annoys me not to be able to push something to the next level, it’s exhausting but it always worths it.
Fourth, simplicity is key;
I love simply presented ideas, I need art to touch me, to get me to relate to its inner meanings.
Fifth, your imagination is your most valuable resource;
Don’t harness your imagination, let it be.
Society is always trying to force certain patterns and certain rules on your art, don’t let anyone muffle your inner self.
And photoshop is not a sin! there I said it!
Sixth, embrace change;
The first step is always the hardest. All you need is the courage to take that step, the courage to make a change.
I must say, that I’m very slow on this one, I’m still struggling with my first steps in photography, but I’m sure I’ll get there soon!
Seventh, do it for yourself;
Be satisfied about your art then check what others might think about it, don’t do it exclusively for others. Do it for yourself and seek this satisfaction that you are actually able to create something.
If you love your art, others will certainly love it as well, and it doesn’t have to be the whole world!
That’s about it! I’m sure I’ll be adding more “declarations” in the future and altering some of the existing ones. Until then, what are your own beliefs and motives to do what you do? what is your art manifesto?
Please share your thoughts with me, I will really appreciate it.
